Nominator's project description

Professor del Giorgio is internationally well known for his ground-breaking research in aquatic carbon cycling and microbial ecology in various aquatic ecosystems. He has made pioneering contributions to the field of aquatic biochemistry by linking microbial community dynamics with organic carbon and greenhouse gas cycling. During his stay in Germany, he aims to explore aquatic greenhouse gas dynamics in relation to watershed features and microbial community dynamics in contrasting lakes of the Northeastern lowlands.
